The History of Sushi: A Gourmet Journey and a Recipe to Make at Home 🍣

Today, let us take you on a fascinating journey through time to explore the history of sushi and inspire you to make it at home. So, put on your apron and get out your Björn knives 🍣🔪

The origins of sushi
Sushi did not originally come from Japan. In fact, its history goes back centuries in Southeast Asia. Originally, narezushi was a preservation method where fish was fermented with rice. "At that time, the rice was not meant to be eaten but was used solely to preserve the fish. IIt was only later, in Japan, that sushi evolved into what we know and love today. 🍙🐟

It was in the 17th century that a chef named Hanaya Yohei 🧑‍🍳 revolutionized sushi by creating nigiri-zushi : vinegared rice pressed into small bites, topped with fresh fish. No need for long fermentations, sushi could be prepared quickly, perfect for Tokyo's busy inhabitants. And that's how modern sushi was born! 🍣🎌

Now why not try making your own sushi at home? Here’s a simple recipe to get you started, with the help of our Björn cutting tools, of course 🍣
